Hi all.

I just realised today that I do not have a program to view digital photos off my SD/CF cards.

Is there a free program out there that I can install onto my 3870 iPAQ that will allow me to view photos directly form a SD of CF card?

Regards :D

XnView Pocket is a very nice praphics viewer that works with a wide variety of file formats. It is freeware available on archives sites like pocketpcfreewares.com or you can Google to find other download servers. Make sure you choose the version that matches your CPU type.

Thanks yankeejeep.

I found and down loaded the program and it works like a treat.

But as usual, I have a question :-)

After I am finished after trying out the program, for some reason or other I finish up back at the window called "Browse folder" and I got stuck there.

My question is, how can I get back to the actual program window that has the 6 icons showing, so that I can carry on with whatever other function I want to use?

At the moment to get back to that main window I have to close everything down and then re-start the operation from the 'today' screen. None of the small icons at the bottom of the screen appear to do this for me.

To be honest, I don't know the answer as I never tried to do that when I used the app and I bought Resco Photo Viewer in a software bundle so I use that now instead. But if I recall correctly, the functions on the start-up screen are all available through the menus in the program window. You might check options to see if there is a setting you can activate to go back to the main start-up window but I always simply used the menu system when in the app's browsing mode.

Hi yankeejeep.

I do not seem to have too much luck here. :o If those functions are in the program somewhere then I'm damned if I can find them.

In fact, the entire picture viewing program does not appear on the "programs" window of the PDA. Every other program that I have loaded seems to appear on that window/screen except the picture viewer.

In fact, the ONLY place the viewer does appear is in on the drop down menu of the Today screen. If that were to dissapear from that loaction then I could not work the program.

I tried uninstalling and then re-installing it again but still no joy.

Not to worry, it is not of significance. I can always, some time in the future drop an email to the author and see what he has to says.

Incidentally I have version 1.4.

I suppose I could always see if I can find an earlier version and give that a fly and see what happens.

Does it work if you click OK or X at the upper right corner?

The app launch icon display is simply a function of where in the file system the .lnk (shortcut) file has been placed by the install routine. Using your file manager, navigate to Windows/Start Menu where you will find the app's .lnk file. Move it to Windows/Start Menu/Programs and it will show in the Programs display.

Hi guys.

Thanks for the response.

A.D., when I click the X, the screen closes down and I go back to the Today screen, not to the "Apps" screen of the program.

Yankeejeep. Your suggestion, I will try it out during the day sometime. For the moment I have to go a dig a very large hole in the back yard. :(

Hi Guys.

I upgraded to WM2003 yesterday and it looks like that that O.S. does have a picture viewer on it. I tested it out by moving one photo from my desktop PC onto the PDA 'My Pictures" folder, and there it was.

I wonder now, how can I get it to work on photos loaded onto an SD or CF card, if that is possible at all?

Try creating My Documents folder on the storage card and put picture files in that folder.
