I am a Treo user, and I think I made a big mistake. I upgraded to Palm Desktop 4.0 for the Mac, which the Handspring website says is compatible with Mac OS 9.2 AND OS X. I every month or so, I get the error message "Unexpected Error #-50", and I basically lose everything.

When I called Handspring they told me Palm 4.0 is not in fact compatible with Mac 9.2, and could not explain why the website says that it is. Infuriating! They had me follow the detailed instructions for downgrading back to Palm 2.6.3, which simply do not work. The User Data file, once in Palm 4.0 format, cannot be read by Palm Desktop 2.6.3, so it is a waste of time. They then admitted that these instructions do not work and couldn't explain why they post them as a solution to this problem.

The only way to retrieve the data is to sync, with the Handheld overriding the Palm Desktop data. Of course when you do that, you lose all your secondary addresses, birrthdays, and all kinds of data. It all becomes attached notes. It is maddening.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?
