I am new to my TT, and new to LauncherX which I just downloaded. I am out of memory on my handheld, and I would like to move some applications over to my card. I first copied them to the card and then deleted them from the handheld, but they would not run. So I got LauncherX, and I don't really know my way around with it yet. I thought I moved the app to the card by dragging it to the Card tools, then made a shortcut to the handheld. Icons look like it worked, but my memory has not changed on the handheld or the card! What gives? Is there an easy way to move entire apps to my card and run them from there? Without buying more software? Am I missing something simple? Thanks for any advice.
P.S. Some of the apps are simple databases like medical texts; some have conduits to update them with every hotsync.

If they update with every HotSync, don't put them on the card. They'll crash.
To move an app to the card, drag the icon to the Card Tools gadget and select Move to Card. Then, when the screen refreshes, the icon should have a little card symbol next to it.
You should be able to put just about any app on the card, provided the database (if it changes at HotSync) is left in RAM. Almost all of the apps I have in my m125 are actually on the card, with databases in RAM, and they run fine.

A lot of apps associate with databases that must reside in memory. Moving the app to the SD card in that instance doesn't help much.
But wait! There's PowerRun! This nifty app works with LX and moves apps and their associated databases to the card. Veeery cool; when the icon is tapped, powerrun launches, moves everything back to RAM, then launches the app in RAM. This really saves memory! My only complaint with PowerRun is that it replaces the icon with the low rez version of that icon, otherwise it works great with the TT and LX.
Now if only Bozidar would build that functionality into a future LX release...
go to PalmGear and search for PowerRun to find it.

I used to use MSMount on my m125.
MSMount tricks the device into thinking part of a memory card is actually RAM, so you can move databases to the card and apps can still get at them. But...I don't know if MSMount works with Palm OS 5. It is freeware, anyway...handy if you use older doc readers that don't support expansion cards--put the docs in their own directory, map MSMount to that directory, then have at it.
Many programs do support expansion cards now--you can put non-changing DBs on the card in a specific directory and the apps will "see" the DBs properly. With LauncherX you can then put the apps themselves on the card, too.

Thanks for the help. I think the app I was having trouble with was an older database (year 2000 textbook). A newer version is working fine now. Glad to know LauncherX wasn't a waste of money - I do like the tabs and gadgets - still learning how to use them. I'll check Powerrun. Thanks again!

Are there any applications like MSMount and PowerRun that are compatible with the TT? I haven't tried either because there is no indication that either are OS 5 compatible.

The current version of PowerRun works just fine with the TT. The only issue I have is that it replaces the app icon with a low-res version.

Thanx... I'll give it a shot
