3650 speaker issue

Another "problem" - my "new" (for me) 3650 seems to have a loose speaker connection, as I have only heard the speaker at full volume just today (after having it for a wek or so). Now that I know the speak does work, and it probably has a loose connection, does anyone recommend my taking it apart to check? I know that Compaq wants me to spend money to have them look at it(!), and then spend more money to have them fix it(!), but I cannot afford the cash right now.

Anyone else had this problem? Any "techies" out there who will say it is easy to fix?
