Hi,

Anyone here have used MC218 to connect to the internet using MC218 Internet Software and a mobile phone?

If you have, I have a question for you.

I been using MC218 Internet Software and my mobile phone to connect to the internet. The connect is fine but I am not able to sign-on/logon to MyYahoo - my own personalised Yahoo page,...not Yahoo email service. I also failed to logon to other personalised webpages.

What happen is after entering my userid, password and pressing the "logon" button, I will receive this message - "Problem Openning Page <page address>. Page not supported".

I believe this is because the page is encrypted and this is not supported by the MC218 Internet Software. Am I right? Would switch to Opera resolve this issue?

ps...If you are able to logon, I would like to get in touch with you and compare your connection setting against my machine.

Thank you in advance.

Rgds,

naj

Hi Naj. I don't have an MC218 but I am fairly sure that it uses Psion's original web browser which does not support secure pages. Using Opera should solve this problem and, since you can try it for free, why not download it and give it a go. It's much better than the original web browser with the only downside being the registration fee. However, if you surf the web a lot then it may well be worth it.

Hi naj, Simon is right - Opera is much more capable than the MC218's inbuilt web browser.

I use it regularly on my MC218 with an Ericsson R520m mobile phone - very few problems, except the occasional crash due to shortage of memory. Opera is a bit of a greedy app!

I don't think settings are your problem - if you've got connected at all then it sounds like you got them right. I'd be happy to supply mine if you still want to compare though.

Hi Julie,

Thanks for the advice. So far I have not been able to get myself connected to the internet using Opera but then again it was not easy to get myself connected using the readily available MC218 internet application either. Normally the network around my area is congested.

Just to be sure...can you send your setting to me. My email address is noorazmanjamil@celcom.net.my. At least I can ruled out one possibility. By the way, what telephone system are you using?

TIA,

Rgds,
