I just got a new machine with XP Home after my Win 98 machine gave up the ghost. I reinstalled PsiWin 2.3.3 and the difference is absolutely amazing. I can now connect to my 5mx even if I'm already connected to the internet, something I could never do with Win 98. The connection can be made and broken and then made again without having to reboot or do anything special. The connection has been very stable and I've managed to sync with both Outlook XP and Organizer 6 with no problems. So, for those of you ready to throw up your hands with PsiWin, get XP. It really is more stable as an OS and I think proves that most of the instability attributed to PsiWin really was from earlier Windows unstable operating systems.

I have to agree - the latest PsiWin and XP are fantastic. I've been using this setup for a number of months and haven't had any trouble at all.

ditto!

Until now I have only been able to usefully connect my Psion at work (using Windows NT and Windows 2000).

I run quite happily with Win2000 on both my work machine and my home machine. My wife's laptop with WinMe is rather flakier - main problem is that PsiWin thinks the Psion is connected, but any attempt to copy files in either direction is just ignored...

Dear Jim, or anyone that can help!

You said that using XP you found it possible to synch Lotus Org 6 with your 5mx.

I have recently bought a 5mx, and am hoping to do the same whilst using Office XP for the word and excel.

Using Psion Sychronizer which comes with PsiWin 2.3.3, there are no options to connect with Lotus Organizer 6.

I tried using PsiWin 2.1.1 which has an update patch but could not synch correctly (presumably because this is wrong for XP)

How can I synch with Org 6 using XP?

Thanks very much
Ben

Ben,

You have to get the Org5/6 sync upgrade from the Psion website. If you haven't done so, you have to register first but it's not a big deal. Go to downloads and you'll see the Org5/6 upgrade. Download, install, and reboot. Hook up your 5mx, set the syncing options you want, and you'll find that it'll work just fine.

Dear Jim

Everything is working now!

The file I used, which I think you were referring to, Org56.zip, is described on MyPsion as follows:

"This is a plug-in synchronizer for PsiWin 2.3.1 which provides synchronization for Lotus Organizer 5.0/6.0 Calendar and Address Book. This plug-in is not supported for use with PsiWin 2.3.3."

Not sure why Psion say this is for the old PsiWin when it works fine! Anyway, thanks very much

Ben
