Hot Sync unstable

Running Windows XP home, and hot sync using the Treo cradle and USB line. Hot Sync seems to run fine for a few weeks, then go away. My Treo just gives me the error message that it can't find the base computer. To fix it I need to uninstall the current Palm app from the PC and reinstall. For a while I thought that hot sync connection was being lost following some Windows update, but it's hard to tell because the updates get pushed out so frequently.

Anyone Else have this problem, or a solution?
