Is there a program that allows the Tungsten T to be a Universal remote control for like my TV, receiver and stuff, like the Clie and iPaq. Not a big deal, and I'm getting the TT anyways, but just wondering. Thanks!

IT works great and the current version (just posted btw) 2.07 has TT support. There's a beta ORLIB that I'm using as well, but it's not necessary. Here's the link:

I had tried an earlier version of OmniRemote (I think it was with my Palm V, although it could have been with my m505 ... can't remember for sure) and it worked great! ...BUT, a very limiting factor was the low power of the Palm's IR. I had to be within 4-5 feet of the IR receiver to establish communication. Not great if I'm lounging on the other side of the family room. If I have to get up and walk to within a few feet of the TV for a remote to work, then the purpose of the remote is defeated.

I know there are 3rd party attachments for the Palm that will give a higher intensity IR, but I don't want to hook up an attachment every time I want to use my Palm as a remote. (e.g. There is "Ir Blaster for PV" at http://66.186.210.249/catalog.html. BTW, while you're at that link, check out the USB Bluetooth transceiver for only $39.95! I might have found a new toy!:D )

I admittedly have not tried OmniRemote with my TT and the TT may have a more powerful IR. I'd be interested in hearing what results other OmniRemote users have had. I think OmniRemote is a great idea.

Yeah, my Palm V sucked too, but beginning with my M505 and including the TT, range is much better (20 feet or so). I think that Palm is using more powerful emitters now.

Pronto Lite tv remote software by philips is a good one, however it is not compatible with OS 5 yet.

Check:

Apparantly ProntoLite works if you load OmniRemote's ORLib.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll give OmniRemote a try on my TT. If the TT has a stronger IR (20 feet would be great) than my Palm V, I may register it.

I have just downloaded philips pronto lite, and use the OR lib of the omni remote, works great (thanks for the tip)! To me the IR strenght on TT is good enough. The distant from my couch and my tv set is about 2.5 meters, and I was able to use it with no problem at all.

I've never tried Pronto Lite, but I love OmniRemote's companion program ORDesktop (written by another guy). On my PC I can design OR databases and layout the buttons. I can even paste in Pronto IR codes (a number of public libraries are available that are full of the Pronto IR codes for myriads of devices). ORDesktop also contains a very comprehensive list of pre-trained devices with built in button templates.

OmniRemote organizes controllers by catagory with each database handling up to the maximum catagory limit (20 or so). It also has the ability to handle multiple databases, so I have one called "Home System" that contains all the stuff in my Home Theater system and another called "BarTV's" that contains controllers for all the major TV brands.

I'm sure you can guess what I use the second library for...;)
