I've emailed IRSend's developer, Jim Pollock, but the email address on his webpage is long dead. The site itself appears abandoned.
Does anybody know anything more about this program? I'm looking for something to send files to my Mako (ER5) from DOS. I got the unregistered version of IRSend to send successfully an RTF doc to my Series 5, but wonder if the app might not work with ER5 as well, since ER3 and ER5 can talk to each other via infrared. Though my efforts have been in vain so far.
Any enlightenment would be much appreciated,
Jake

I wonder if rcom does what you want

It's the DOS based precursor to PsiWin. I played with it for fun and it worked fine. I have Version 1.16 which I think was the last version. Joop's page is really useful.
Cheers

Hi, Colin,
Thanks for the help. I'd forgotten Joop's fine page and I'm glad it's still up. Yes, I guess I could play with the serial cable, but I'm hoping against hope to be able to IR an RTF file from the computer to the Mako as my battery is dying 30,000 feet in the air, without the hassle of fishing out the cable.
RComm does not seem to like IR :(
All best,
Jake

It will be there for an other 30 years, Joop is THE mister S3 in The Netherlands :)

Googling for DOS IrDA application didn't turn up any stand alone applications; there were programs to transfer data to specific hardware but these didn't seem to be downloadable.
If Jim Pollock is no longer contactable could you use a different method of transferring files? If you are trying to avoid cables could you email yourself, or transfer to an ftp site?
I wonder if anyone who monitors this list has a working copy of IRSend without the file size limit.
Regards
Colin
Yes, that was my thought too--that someone had a working copy of IRSend. I played with the unregistered version and was able to send a 2K RTF file from the DOS c: prompt to my Series 5 (alas, its cable is failing, causing a weird and shimmering refresh rate) and NConvert converted it to reveal all its formatting glory--bold, underline, italics, the works.
I tried and tried to repeat the same from c: to the Mako, but the Mako won't pick up. Strange, given that a Series 5 and ER5 can talk to each other via IR. But Mr. Pollock's site seems well-abandoned and his email address doesn't work.
Thanks for the google search, Colin. My results were the same as yours--IrDA just didn't seem on the DOS radar. Though IRSend shows it can be done.
