For those of you who already own the TT (mine will be in my hands on Christmas morning), what is your experience with the plastic case that comes with the unit?
Do you plan to continue to use it, or are you waiting for something better to come along?
Comments would be helpful.
PalmTT,
It's not as bad as it sounds, surfing through these forums, but it definetely is the major bug about the TT (apart from that, I think it's a GREAT pda)
Still, I am changing and bought the palm sleeve case from which you can find info here :

also, a photo is attached...
I haven't used it yet, should have it tomorrow...
bye

I was looking at that one as well. Let me know how it works. Does it cover the back as well? If so it seems like you trade better protection for a cover that you then have to hold when you pull out the TT to use it. Let me know if I'm off target on how it works.
Thanks.
I dislike the plastic cover. It is a definite fingerprint magnet! You need two hands to take off. Hint: When you take off the cover, clip it in the back. Because this is not like the M500 series, you can use the old covers because you can't slide this one in like the others. I am definitely going to buy a new cover. Does anyone know of a retail store that carries them? I don't want to wait and order online.

I agree that it's a fingerprint magnet (and it's sort of a pain to have to use two hands to take it off), but in comparison to the flimsy flip covers Palm supplied for my Vx and m505 this is the best supplied cover they've given me yet. I do miss my titanium Rhinoskin for the m505, but I'm willing to use the plastic case until some genius (maybe me, necessity is the mother of invention) develops a nice hardcase that's easy to open one-handed and accomodates the unique slider function of the TT.

For me the standard flip cover on the 500-er series was the best ever. I loved it. It's amusing how everybody has other needs. That's the way we are build.

I don't like it - it's a nuisance. Almost from the start I left it in my bag and carried the TT in my pocket without anything. The problem with cases seems to be that they are often in the way, or they add another half the thickness to your handheld. Waiting to see what aftermarket cases come up... (Still can't stop grinning about my TT though!):)

I do like it though it does tend to get scratched. One thing I found is that I don't like that it covers the application buttons, so a few minutes with a dremel drill and that was solved. Now I can leave the cover on and still get to my apps with a single click.

The cover that came with TT was most inefficient, unattractive and as some have said we would not want some cracker eating munchkin fingering it. Now, why could not palm think of making the buttons accessible with holes? Then you have protection (albiet not attractive) WITH function.
I bought the sleeve but not the scuba. It has storage space, protects the pda, has a flap for money, etc. But, it does add to thickness. I may try the drilling, but I do need a place for my other cards.....I'll work on that later

I went out this weekend and bought the Hard Case for the TT and it is nice but what I dislike is the space for the expansion cards. You have to put them in so that you can't read the titles and the metal contacts on the card are open for dust. I'm sorry who thought of this?

Lisa,
Which outlet did you purchase the hard-case from? I'm interested in a hard-case as well (add protection) but I don't want to order online? Is there space for credit-cards, memory cards, etc? Does the TT stay in the case as you use it? Or do you have to remove the TT from the case to use it?
Thanks.
OK, I received my scuba sleeve case, and I don't like it !!
First of all (it's a detail but...) It doesn't have the nice ri-ound Palm logo as shown on the picture of my previous post, but an ugly square cheap aluminum "widget" for lack of a better word !
Secondly, it's not practical !! you can't open it all the way to the back so your TT stays "open" like a book, impossible to carry with one hand...
That one will stay in the drawer...
too bad

You can get the aluminum Tungsten T case, the Scuba Sleeve Case or the Slim Leather Case at Office Depot.
Hi JemShoe,
I bought the Hard Case from Staples. It is from Palm. You can also order in online from Palm.com. There is only room for two expansion cards on the left and nothing else. You do have to take the case off to charge the TT. But you can keep the case on and still use the TT and writing area. The top and part of the side is open so that you can access your stylus, off/on switch and voice recorder.
