My device: m500 with OS 4.0 EFIGS;
Tried to upgrade to OS 4.1 with the utility available on Palm's site. Used Advanced mode because I wanted to use an EFIGS ROM image and the embedded image in the utility is english only. The upgrade process worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, the image I used was bad (image includes both small and big ROM while utility only upgrades big ROM). Result: Palm wont start anymore. Soft reset, hard reset, nothing works. However, I still can boot in debug mode because small ROM is still intact. Tried to flash the system again (with the embedded image this time, english only system is better than no system at all), the process starts, but then stops after a few second with an error message saying that some of the flash memory is permamently locked. Am I screwed ? Will I have to send my device back to Palm to have it reflashed, or is there some kind of utility out there to wipe out the flash memory so I can retry the upgrade ?
Any help would be appreciated.

I think your going to have to get it flashed professionally. STNECORP.com is one company to contact.

A bit of advice... If the version number is something like 4.1 then the software writer has made some small change, and to me it's not enought to risk flashing and messing up. Now if you wait untill 4.5 or better then it's worth upgrading to it. But and a BIG BUT, take it somewhere and let a pro do it. That way if they screw it up they have to make it good. Take it from some one who found out the hard way on his PC.
