IQue 3600 Unit ID Corrupt???

I bought an Ique 3600 on eBay to use as a backup. I am getting a "can't unlock maps" error when I try to hotsync. When I use "Info/Versions" to see the unit ID it says "OG36-1" and should say "OG36-2141720579", at least according to Garmin. I downloaded one of the unlock code parsers and the Unit ID in the map file agrees with the ID from Garmin. Apparently the Unit ID has gotten corrupted in my unit. Does anyone know how to get the unit to recalculate this ID, or reload the firmware, given that Garmin has stopped servicing the units? I have an e-mail into Garmin, and they have been helpful in the recent past, but it takes several days and I'd like to decide if this unit is bricked or recoverable so I can get a refund from the seller if it can't be fixed easily.
