Hi all, I've been battling with Compaq and Palm for several weeks now. I cannot get the hotsync to work between my Palm V Cradle (with a USB Connect Kit from Palm) and my Compaq Evo laptop with no serial ports. I have tried installing, uninstalling, using desktop version 4.0 and 4.0.1. I've adjusted the hotsync manager to have both USB and serial checked when syncing. I've even tried Puma intellisync. Nothing works.
Thing is, it sets up on COM 3 which is the modem port and I can't seem to enable any other COM port in order to choose it. Even when I'm not using the modem - it won't sync. Neither Compaq nor Palm has been able to help with this - any suggestions aside from a hard reset? I'm desparate but I haven't synced in so long that there's a lot of info in the Palm that will be lost if I hard reset. HELP???? PLEASE???

The problem is the same as maco7 problem that was writen to you. I did pick a USB connector for my palm but that did not help and I was referred to you for help

you may want to give remapping the ports a try, i've a post on that subject here (http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=2374). if com 1 is in use for terminable service or one that can run on another (available) port remap it and see if you do get the option by an install this time. if still not you can of course also try remapping com3, though i do not know what windows thinks about that.
anyway, you have already asked help by two out of the three that could help, why not ask the third? http://www.microsoft.com is easy enough to remember, isn't it?;)
