I guess this may be a Windows Mobile question, more than just an HTC question, but here goes:

I have to back-up my SMS text messages from my HTC TyTn, preferably to a computer, and then later transfer to another HTC unit.

I have over 3,000 SMS text messages in my phone ... They are too important to erase.

My CONTACTS (5,000 contacts ...), from OUTLOOK, have been backed up, but I can't find any programme that would allow me to back up the SMS in memory. If I used an memory car, say the Micro-SD, how could I transfer the SMS Text to the Memory Card?/

Help!

I think you can use Sprite software's program.

But I would want something where I could view them on the computer and not have to restore them and have them take up space...

I had the exact same problem as you. I found the perfect piece of software though. It lets you backup your text messages to a file that can be transferred to your computer. You can then open that file in Microsoft Excel or notepad. It also includes a program for your desktop computer that lets you open the file and search or filter your text messages. The program will even let you upload the messages to a database; although I did not try that feature myself. I was even able to backup the messages from a Windows Mobile 5 device and then restore them onto a Windows Mobile 6 device! It also backs up your call log; but I didn't find any need for that.

The program is called Windows Mobile SMS Sync and is available here: http://www.synergetechsolutions.com/MobileSmsSync.aspx

Damn it's not freeware. If it was I would use it...

Hmm one post, linking to a page selling software. I wonder if you work for the company that makes it? Even so atleast you posted it in the right place...
