Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : PRC and PDB Files
I am trying to clear out a bunch of unused PRC and PDB files from my new TT and I can't tell by the name if they belong to a program. I don't want to accidentally delete something that I may need. I've done this in the past and then got fatal alerts when I tried opening a program.
Any ideas?

You could copy the files to a storage card before deleting from your TT. That way, if you should need a file, you would have it available. I must admit that sounds a bit cumbersome and still does not identify which files are safe to delete.
If you use LauncherX, there is an icon in the Gadgets that will identify the creator of the file. (e.g. Kinoma files are ID'd as "KNMA" and Palm Reader files are ID'd as "PPrs") That would allow you to "group" similar file. The program / utility "Filez" allows you to ID file creators, too, but I am not sure if it is TT compatable. I used it on my m505.

Thanks OldBlue!
I will try the FileZ software and see if that helps. (so far it seems compatible with the TT.) This software looks a lot like the Z'Catalog software that I already use. Identifying files names are really hard for me. Again, I appreciate the advice!

Dear All,
If you want to take care of those ..._a68k files that, one by one, consume all your memory, you can use the FileZ 5.04 :: 9/13/02 to view them. But remember that you can only clean the ..._a68k extension files after you delete the respective program related to it. So here are the steps:
1- install the FileZ;
2- delete normally (via OS5) the PRC program you desire;
3- make a soft reset on the TT (this is so that ..._a68k files can loose his "relationship" with the OS5);
4- open the FileZ, track the "trash" you want to delete and delete it using the same FileZ program.
If you accidently try to delete a file that is still related with and app in the Palm TT, don't worry, it won't be deleted.
I'm doing this all the time and I have cleared up all the ..._a68k trash files.
Good luck!!!
