Today screen

I have an IPAQ 3870 and, on my today screen, besides the usual appointments, contacts, messages and tasks, I have "Agenda Today" and "PointStart" (these last two were freebies with the device). Well, since adding these two apps to the today screen, their respective backgrounds are white (not transparent) and, therefore, half of my today screen is blocked out with white space.
Is there any way to alter this, as I would like to restore the original look, but keep all apps?
