I am rather desperately seeking a way to migrate the huge files I have loaded into my Psions (started with Series 3 years ago and now have 5Mx) either to IPhone or simply to my PC.

I am not technically proficient, but have an urgent need -- as procuring new (used) Psions is no longer an option.

Can someone guide me in this regard? I do not know how to hook the Psion to the PC, much less how the data would ever be transferred to my IPhone.

I am willing to hire help for this; live in Denver, Colorado, USA.

Also, if I succeed in transferring the data, will itcome out in its new form the way it appears in my Psion?

Would appreciate email advice, but also posting here -- have just found this site.

Many thanks -- I have had more than twenty Psions, love the keyboard, but now must find another solution. The instant-on feature is critical to my use of these data.

Tranferring to a PC is a simple matter if you have the PsiWin software and the required cable. Details are available at the following site:

Getting the data to an iPhone is beyond my knowledge, but presumably utilities exist for the iPhone similar to PsiWin for the Psion.

Whether the data shows exactly on the PC/iPhone as it does on the Psion depends on exactly what it is. In my experience, Word documents seem to transfer fine, though the more *****ious you are with things like embedded objects the more scope there is for differences to show.

Psion machines and components are still available via eBay last time I looked. You may be able to acquire the serial cable or even another machine for a reasonable cost. If your computer doesn't have a 9-pin serial connection, you will likely also need a serial to USB adapter ( I have used a Belkin F5U109. Others may work.) If you are interested in repairs, PDA (formerly Palmtop) Support Services in Toronto has reparied my Psions a few times. Check them out at www.410palm.com. I have yet to find a worthy replacement for my trusty Psion Series 5mx! Maybe someday!
Good Luck,
Jim

I really hope some company could buy the Epos OS r5 and produce some similar device with, instant on and use feature, using AA battery, instead of grey-scale screen now we have e-ink technology around the world, still big enough keyboard, let alone bluetooth, wifi, etc which are basic.
