Does anyone know if the batteries (main & Backup) are the same for these units? Are any still available? WOuld appreciate the knowledge.

Most likely the two units use the exact same batteries, since (I believe) they are technically identical internally. For a replacement main battery, try ACCESSEROL in New York, NY tel: 800-828-9888). They are an authorized Sharp parts distributor. In 2002, I bought a new, replacement battery for my Sharp Mobilon Pro PV-5000A (32MB Australian version of the PV-5000) from them for US $99.95 plus shipping. Assuming they are still in business, they would be the place I would check first. Also consider getting a quote from a battery re-cell shop such as Batteries Plus or similar. You might find having the existing battery rebuilt with new cells to be more economical.
