Betty # 2 just developed a serious set of symptoms this morning. It started with a strange notification that the battery was getting dangerously low and that I had to recharge immediately. The little battery icon at the bottom of the screen showed a narrow, red stripe on the battery bottom. The message was odd, since moments before, the unit had been freshly recharged and had behaved normally up to then. I did a soft reset and charged; normal green light for 1 hr. No help, same strange warning. I then did a hard reset and now, the restore step that involves calibrating the digitizer, couldn't complete. The part about using the stylus to poke the little targets in various locations on the screen wouldn't stop. The targets kept appearing in the upper left, then, on poking it, a new target would appear in the lower right. Each screen poke, no matter where, would result in a never-ending process of setting up a new target. A second hard reset resulted in the same problem of being trapped in that digitizer calibration step. Other reset types also made no difference.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to break out of this repeating calibration step? Thanks in advance. Bill H

Have you been close to the beach or high humidity environment lately? If so try cleaning the screen with a dilution of mild soap. When I get around the coast it seems that the salt air causes the digitizer screen to give bad data. I cleaned it with a diluted dwashing soap and it fixed it. I had posted something about this before. My symptoms were different. Betty just started drawing random lines on the screen and then it locked up.

Good luck with her. She can be fussy.

"Have you been close to the beach or high humidity environment lately?"

No, but your comments are helpful. This might explain the slight digitizer problems I've had on some past Bettys.

This Betty seems permanently stuck in the digitizer calibration step after returning from a hard reset. Bill

Tried one more thing. I let the battery run down to dead-zero, somehow hoping that this might zero the firmware(I think) glitch that was happening...no joy. When I then soft reset Betty with the pin plug power supplied, it came alive, but started through the same idiotic digitizer repetition. Looking more and more like a brick...Rats! Bill

Try taking the top frame off the iQue. Maybe some part of the frame is contacting the digitizer causing false readings during calibration.

Bingo, Paul! I loosened the four torx screws and the digitizer began working again and the unit began accepting cradle charging, re-synced normally and seems to be back on her road to recovery. The screws are re-tightened, a little less than I had found them, though. Betty somehow had gotten her 'knickers in a twist' all by herself. I don't know how. Thanks. Bill H

Glad to hear you got it working again. Also, if any part of a screen protector is between the frame and the digitizer screen, it will cause a "press" on the screen and cause your digitizer to not function properly.
