I have owned a HTC TyTn2 for some months and synchronised it daily with my old PC, running WinXP. There never was a problem.
Unfortunately my old PC broke down and it seems impossible to get a new without a preinstalled Windows Vista. (HP D7)
Since that day I have been unable to syncronise! The PC acknowledges the HTC, and I can even see the contents of the device and card on screen; but synchronisation is impossible. I have redownloaded and reinstalled the software without any luck.
My wife got a similar phone for christmas, and this synchronised fine with her PC (Vista too) in the beginning, but now this has stopped too.
We both use Ms Office 7.
Is a recent "upgrade" responsible, or what is wrong. It kan not be the security software, as I am Using Norton 360 and she is using F-Secure.
I am at a loss - can anybody please help

For Vista, you will need to install Windows Mobile Device Center

Unfortunately I have done this three times until now without result. The file in the download is the same, I got on disk with the device, dated 2007.
I fear the problem lies somewhere in the Vista and I have tried to reset this back to the very start without updates; but that did not help me!
I am still confused

What items in particular are you trying to sync? What type of error messages do you see on both HTC and Vista? And just to be sure, you probably did this many times already, but have you soft reset the HTC?

Yes - I have reset phone and PC many times.
I need to syncronise calender and contacts primarily, but also notes and to-do's. This worked fine with WinXP. I have tried to deactivate my firewall, both on the PC and the PDA, with no effect.
The only message I get on the PC is "error" in the lower left corner (it is in danish, so I only guess, that on your PC it would say error). I have tried to locate a logfile to get additional information; but until now without succes.
When I connect my device, it shows up in Explorer, just as any other external card would. I can open alle folders on the device and its memory card EXCEPT "Windows".
I have looked in windows folder on the device. It has two logfiles in the active sync-folder; but the contents are meaningless to me. I have tried to copy them to post them to you; but I get an access denied, when I try that.
My firewall on the PC is Norton360 and on the PDA is F-secure. On my WinXP PC they did not interfere with syncronisation.
As you can see, I have tried almost everything - except the right thing; but I am at a loss at to what it can be?

Just a short supplementary note:
I managed to find a logfile under "Active Sync", I tried to copy it in order to forward it; but is seems to be protected in some way, as I can copy it around on the device, but not transfer it to the card and not copy the contents to my PC.
I have instead made a copy using pen and paper.
There are two types of entries, one runs:
Date,Time AutdMode Old=Not Determined New=Not determined
The other runs:
Date,Time KeepAwake Off
I hope this can give some clue to, what is wrong, otherwise I am lost?

One thing to check
Start - Settings - Connections - USB to PC - Enable advanced network functionality
toggle and change that option.

I performed the toggel on and off a couple of times (and reset the PDA in between); but what still happens is: The program Windows mobile begins to initiate and then stops cold. I cannot even close it without the help of joblist.
Since the same problem occurs with my old HTS710C, I am of the opinion, that the problem lies in WinVista (which I and many other consider a terrible OS - but we are stuck with it). I have however no idea, how to adress this problem as I dare not try to meddle with the registration database, and even if I open it, I would not know which of the several thousend entries was responsible. Unfortunately IT experts, who could tackle this problem against payment are extremely rare on Greenland (read non-existent), so I have to continue hoping to get help this way. If there is a forum for Vista somewhere on the net, where help might be found, I would be thankful if somone could give me a couple of net-adresses.
