Hi Group,
Yesterday, when I was about to give up on my broken Betty, I was given a possible repair and parts source for the units. I got the source from www.usedpdaparts.com which was known to this group. He pointed me to a man in Minnesota who specialized in the GPS units. His site is www.palmdr.com.
So I contacted him and listed all the problems I had caused on my unit when I tried to replace the battery. He said no problem on the repairs. It will cost me $47.00 plus $5.00 for return shipping. I am sending my unit off today and will post when I see the results.

Did you buy your battery from Paul? His directions were foolproof. I had mine closed up 15 minutes after starting, and that included watching TV. It's remarkable having a unit that lasts hours, again.

I bought my battery from ipod99.com. It is a 1600 mAh and was a proper fit for the IQ 3600. The problem was not the directions - they supplied both a video and PDF instructions. The problem was I have the manual dexterity of a gorilla!

Yes, it takes a certain dexterity to do this, I admit. I'm good with my hands, but this requires being good with your fingers, tweezers, etc. Those screws are tiny!
The battery Paul is selling is 2000 mAh. Quite nice, and fits fine. He also sends two screw drivers for the Torx and tiny phillips head screws. Very nice service.

I received my original Betty back from Palmdr.com. When I sent it for repairs, the unit had broken backlight leads, a broken scroll wheel, a disconnected ribbon connector, and broken fingers on the main circuit board connector. When I tried to replace the battery, I really had messed up the poor thing. I was pretty happy to see the unit was 100% functional when I unpacked it today. The battery (the new 1600 mAh) was even fully charged. And since it is the correct serial number, I can do hotsyncs again with no hassle.
For $47.00, I think this is a real bargain. So now I have two IQ 3600s that work except the one from Westronics still won't let me charge the battery past the 30% mark....
