I've just got my hands on a M4 to replace my dead 3600 and the M4 has built-in City Navigator Europe NT+ UK & Ireland.

I downloaded the complete European map set and installed to SD using my card reader; using File Explorer on the M4, I can see both the GMAPBMAP
(101MB) and GMAPSUPP (1.52GB) on the SD, in the file:
\SD Card\Garmin\CNE2009

(if i tap on either of these files, i get an error message saying 'No associated application. Open application first and then try to open the file'.

But the device still only shows the original UK & Ireland maps + basemap.

If I go to the 'Tools' then 'Manage My Data' then 'Map Sets' it shows a screen with 'Detailed maps Built-in maps' at the top; I tap this and it says only the original UK & Ireland maps.

Any ideas how to get the new maps on the SD card to replace the pre-installed maps?

I'm guessing the problem is with the new maps, not the sd card.

Please help!!!

Well, on the Palm-based iQue systems, the maps go into \GARMIN, not some sub-folder. I'd try moving them up one level from CNE2009 to GARMIN and see what happens.

Thanks for the feedback.

I noticed this 'sub-folder' and removed it and put the maps into the Garmin folder. It worked. But I think the original problem was that the map file was somehow corrupt.

In any case, I re-loaded the new map files & all is rosy now :)
