Transfering/Importing Psion (3mx) Money data?

I have a Psion 3mx on which I have the Psion Money programme, version 1.1, MONEY.APP.
Copyright the Turning Machine Company 1993 and Cpoyright Psion PLC 1993.

I have all my detailed finance data going back to 2002 and would like to transfer/import it to new finance package on my desktop pc.

1) would anyone recommend a compatible Personal Finance Package, bearing in mind both Quicklen and MS Money are no longer supporting the UK?

2) I have also got a Psion 5, would this interlink/sync with the same finance package package, so I can download my finance data to it?

If you know that either Quicken or MS money would enable me to initially transfer my data, say using a free trial period, would the suggested package accept a transfer to the new format?

Hi Jimlad

You can get Microsoft Money for the Psion 5 (I run it on the Netbook) and I seem to remember transferring the data from the series 3 -> series 5, but it was a long time ago.

Does the S3 version supporting exporting QIF files? If so, then most banking applications can import this.

I am out of the country till next Monday.
Not to keen to use MS Money or Quicken as they are not supported in the UK.

I am considering Moneydance.

I have my Psion 3mx linked by cable to my desktop pc, I have syncronised and backed up everything. I can see my money info is in an ACC file but I can't/don't know how to get it into a QIF file. I can't, via the convert option, there doesn't see to be a way of arriving at a 'save As' option.
Do I have to have a money program on my desktop before I try anything?

Hi there

As I said, it's been a long time since I last used a SIBO machine. I assumed that there would be an export function in Money that would allow you to create .qif files.

I'll try to dig out my old psion kit over the weekend and see if I can come up with a solution.

A thought has occured to me, as I have a password on my Psion to open it then another to access my money info, could this be stopping me from getting to a 'save as' option?

I have been trying to open/save my Psion money files by accessing them on the Psion icon on my desktop. Is this the correct approach or should I somehow be doing it on my actual Psion 3mx whilst it is linked to my PC?

I will eagerly await your weekend research.

Is it possible for me to upload one of my Psion money files, say my 2002 accounts, to this forum for you to practice on? :cool:
