forgive me if this is a stupid question. i hear people talk about msimport on this forum kinda often. from what i understand, it let's you mount the memory stick in your clie as a drive on your pc. am i right? where is this program? i looked for info on the internet about it, but i can't find anything like that about it. i'd like to be able to do something like this, but i haven't a clue as to how to or where this program is.

It comes in the SJ and SL series CD and works as described.

MsImport is always supplied (in europe:-)
so just open ms import on the clie
and you'll see an additional drive in your pc
then you can put all data on there if you want..

Righto but you must first install the PC drivers from the Clie CD before MSImport will sync with your PC.

Howdy folks,

My PEG N610C always used to work with MSimport on my P3 running W98. I hadn't tried it for months, and now have a need for it again. Lo and behold, no go. I get the error message "Check connection with host" on the Clie, along with the system beeps that sound like a mem stick being removed and reinserted.

Thinking back, I had to do a clean reinstall of Windoze a few months back (didn't solve the problem I was after, but that's another story). Other than that, no major changes that I can think of.

I have tried various permutations and combinations of the following in an attempt to rectify the situation, all to no avail:

Delete MS import, reinstall from CD.
Install update of MS import (vs. 1.0.1) downloaded from support site.
Install update of MSSCLILIB.PRC (vs. 1.10) downloaded from support site

Delete and reinstall MS import, MS export, and the SCSI driver from the CD

unplug the Hotsync cradle, reboot, plug it in

try a different memory stick

My impression is that this is a Windoze problem, since the Hot sync goes just fine, and in some cases trying to get MS import to connect (or disconnect) causes the mouse cursor on the PC to switch to the hourglass for an instant. So the hardware seems ok.

Another symptom is that many times the installation app in the CD thinks it has installed MS export when in fact it is nowhere to be found.

The SCSI driver only appears in Control panel's "add/remove programs" listing, but not in the "system/device manager" window, either under "SCSI controllers" or "USB controllers".

I've been breaking my head on this - I know my W98 is buggy, but this used to work - can someone point me in the right direction?

TIA
-Avi
