Hello again All

Just a few questions on memory cards this time.

Firstly how does the memory on them work ? ie are they like the old ssd discs for the 3 series in as much as if you wanted to clear some space you had to wipe the whole thing and start again or do they act more like internal memory in that you can wipe just some files and get that space back ?

Secondly I have seen somewhere on this forum people posting messages/lists regarding brands of discs that they have had problems with. would appreciate any feedback on several brands that are well proven to work in the 5mx and especially any ponters on where such brands can be bought in the UK.

As always many thanks for any replies

CF cards do indeed work very much like the internal memory on your Psion - except generally a little slower, that's all. Much less hassle than the old SSD type cards.

As for which brand to use - here's the main thread where this topic has been discussed:

They behave like the RAM SSDs but without the need for a battery to retain data when out of the machine.
would appreciate any feedback on several brands that are well proven to work in the 5mx and especially any ponters on where such brands can be bought in the UK "Sandisk" is a reliable brand and it is these which Psion use for their own "designer label" (and horrendously expensive) CF cards. "Simple Technology" are also an extensively used brand. I would suggest you try one of the mail order suppliers who have dealt with Psion kit as they will keep you right.
