Try Me Out

I've purchased a T615 recently, and after a few days, learned that the model was discontinued by Sony.
Can anyone give their 2-cents-worth about this? I've been using it since then, and I find it to be a superior product even when compared to palm pilots and other PDA models.
In fact, even the SJ-30 doesn't seem to measure up. Although it does solve the T-series problem about its small buttons and even smaller scroll stick, Sony sacrificed its sound capabilities.
Am I just trying to convince myself that I did'nt make a wrong decision? The term "discontinued" leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

While I agree that the T615 is a better machine than most Palm OS devices, I think the reason Sony discontinued it is because the T615 becomes almost redundant given the T665 and it's quick drop in price. They seemed to have split the model in two ways: "downgrading" it to the SJ30 which doesn't have the T615's thin aluminum shell, enhanced speaker, or enhanced IR port (though it did fix the color issue); and the T665 which also fixes the color issue and adds MP3 and a faster processor.
But I think it's still a great machine. I've had mine since June and love it - no regrets. I have a separate MP3 player which is smaller and more convenient to take to the gym, and processing speed hasn't been an issue. I'm a little disappointed with the lack of accessories, especially considering Sony is churning out products with the same serial connector as the T615.

So what you're basically saying is it boils down to Sony's trying to market their T665, by removing a model that is close to it in features but not in price, and replacing it with a model lower in features, but whose price does not really vary that far from the T615.
Thanks a lot. That made me feel a lot better about hanging on to my T615. It's only unfair and illogical that Sony would discontinue support for the T615 in terms of accessories, especially since its port is the same as that of both the T665 and SJ30.
stay cool dudes!

That's my opinion - I've seen it done for other products (non PDA) as well.
Yeah, the biggest problem I've really seen with the "discontinued" label is that prices drop fast. Not an issue really unless you're planning to sell yours soon. And with the serial port being the same as the new SJ, NX, NR, and T665, any new accessories developed for those should work just fine except for very form-fitting cases which will depend on the exterior size and button placement.

You made a sound decision. The craftmanship on the 615c is much better. A solid metal case compared to a so called a high resisn plastic. You made a great choice. Everything about the 615c says style.
