does this happen to you?

i have 2 Palm 500 problems:
1) since i got my palm 500, a year ago, it crashes (fatal error) about once a week. are there any patches to correct this problem???

2) recently, my palm 500's battery life has diminished to about 1 day. i haven't made any new changes in the last 6 months. why would this happen??/ how can i make it stop?

First thing that comes to mind is that you said you have had it about a year. If it is still under warranty (under a year), I would say just send it to Palm to get fixed, that way you don't have to worry about it. If not, we'll see what we can come up with.

Hi tuffguy-

i would consider sending it back, but it just hit the year marker.
actually, i thought these were common problems and that Palm was developing "patches" to solve the frequent crashing problem.

strangely, this week my battery has lasted for the ususal amount of days.

it did crash once this week though.....

the palm rom's are fine, the problem would be an application that you have installed onto your handheld. try semi-soft reseting and deleting all system apps, then re-add them one by one until you get the problem again, then dont re-install the problem app .
as for your power consumption it sounds also like a thrid party application conflict , you can also try turning your ir beam off , that wastes power.
