Battery Life?

I read some stuff on the official battery life of the axim but who knows if thats true, so this is for anyone who's used the axim...How long is the battery life when the user is using all of the functions equally? How long is it when the user is only watching movies from a cf card?

Battery life is the Axim's forte--Dell rates it at 8 to 10 hours, but we were amazed at how long the cell held up in our tests. Using Microsoft Media Player with the screen set to halfway bright, the X5 played MP3s for 6 hours, 22 minutes before the music cut off. However, the battery still had 16 percent of its charge left, and even though the unit could no longer play tunes, the battery lasted another hour before shutting down. The total battery life added up to be only about 40 minutes shy of Dell's rated time.

around 6.5 hrs with the screen at 1/2 brightness is pretty damn good! Media player (and others) allow you to shut the screen off while playing mp3s, which should up the runtime considerably. I'm not sure about mpg playback but i'm sure you could watch a couple movies no problem. Dell also offers a 3500mah battery which Dell claims will give around 20hrs of use!

I saw information on the Dell website on the high capacity battery, but I could not find any place to buy it on that or any other website. Do you know where to buy the HIGH CAPACITY battery?

As far as I know Dell will be selling it. I'd suggest calling/emailing them and asking. Considering the volume of axims that they've been selling, I would guess that the hi cap battery would be available by January sometime.

When you order your axim, the hi cap battery is an option (noticed it last night). the price was around $210 cdn for the hi cap battery.
