Greetings;

It is awesome phxflyboy, the screen is so nice and it is smaller than my iPAq with the PC sleeve.
Gots to let it charge for 4 hours but there was about 20% power and I played for a few.

Thanks, Scott.

I'll definitely post later today when mine gets here, I think it has become a ritual to let others know when you get it! Since this is my first PPC, after a string of Visors, I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions as well.

I am so jealous! I ordered mine yesterday and I don't expect it until the end of the year. :(

On a better note, I found CompUSA is selling CF wireless cards for only $50!

I look forward to posting when my new toy arrives.

Greetings;

I have had my Dell for less than 24 hours and I can see the improvements over my iPAQ already. The screen color is so crisp and clear it is amazing. I set the processor to run at 400mhz and it zoomed from application to application. How about that scroll switch on the left side amazing.

ps, I got my Dell, I got my Dell.

Greetings,

I got my Dell on Dec 17th..its very nice.

I also do like it better than the compaqs..but I can't get jpeg and gif images to appear. I tried putting a website on there for viewablility offline and none of the graphics will load.

A friend with a compaq said to update the service packs so i did so, but that just screwed up my sync with my computer forcing me to hard reset my pocketpc.

Any suggestions?

I GOT IT!!!!

UPS website said it would be yesterday, it didn't show. Called this morning, they said today by 7:00 pm. Tonight I called at 7:00 and complained that it wasn't here. 15 minutes later, UPS was knocking! It's charging now.

T minus 3:05:49 until useable.

It doesn't look like the Dells come with an image viewer so a add on will need to be used. I haven't looked on the disc that came with the PDA maybe there is one on there. As for the IE not showing images you will need to open the IE program and on the bottom toolbar there is an icon on the far right side that allows images to be viewed or not, click on that icon.

Here are some links for freeware and shareware viewers.

phxflyboy how do you like it? should be up and running.

Got ours tooo!!!! :)
This thing is sweet! we got the 300mhz model and i can't belive how quick it is. our battery had a 60% charge so it only took about 1.5 hrs to come up to full. I was playin around with it and found my way to the powersave section and noticed- it was running only at 200mhz!!! so i bumped it up and then it was really snappy ! Life is good :)

Random_user,
from what I've read, the Dells are shipping with the latest of the Service Packs, so it is possible that you downgraded your service packs while trying to get these images working. I believe Dells have Service Pack 3 from the factory.

DScott,

I love this thing! I was up until 3:30 a.m. playing with it. And by the way, it does come with a picture viewer. It's on the disc. I haven't used it much but it seems like a pretty good one so far.

I couldn't get Pocket Quake 2 to run so I might try Pocket Quake. I'm anxious to get some games going.

Greeetings;

The viewer on the disc is a trial version of Resco, you'll need to pay to keep it. The 3600 series iPAqs came with a free viewer that sucked and I purchased CoolVis1.0 and recieved 2 updates and it's now at 2.0, but it is no longer sold. but they still sell software realviz.com. I would suggest you try a few viewers if you are going to purchase or pick on of the free ones.

Scott,

You sure about that being a demo? I'm not questioning you because it was about 2:00 a.m when I was installing it.:o I remember some of the programs being demos but not that one. Oh well, guess I'll have to look for a new one. I thought that viewer was pretty cool but I'll probably look for a free one. Right now I'm in the process of converting all my Visor Prism info over to the Axim. What fun!:D

Greetings;

I threw my disc in at lunch to load it and it has the purchase infor and price for it. So I loaded my old version of Coolvis and it works fine.

Thanks for the info. No big deal I guess. There are some nice viewers out there that are pretty cheap. I just bought and installed Mapopolis. I used it on my Prism and liked it. I was absolutely shocked at the improvement on the Axim. It is an amazing program for the price. The software is free and the maps that I get are $10.

Got my Dell PPC on the 15th and I am loving it. Really neat and blew me away when I was surfing the net with it. Definitely going for WiFi. Since I have a wireless network at home. What I'm really looking for is a CF Modem that will allow me to make voice calls also so I can get rid of my cell phone! Any Ideas?
