Greetings;

When i was using my iPAQ I used the iTask program to shut down any active programs to save power while the unit was off. I was sad to see that the Dell does not have the same option.
But I found that if you goto Start>Settings>system and start the Switcher Bar program it places three shortcut icons on the top bar. One for power one for brightness and then one is the swithcer bar program. It gives you the options to exit current program, exit all and exit the switcher bar program. Works good. You could always goto the memory tab in the settings and shut the running programs down from there.

Just a FYI

Being a ppc newbie i found it disconcerting that hitting the X doesn't always close the program. I too stubmled onto the program switcher and found its nice. Got it there all the time now.

Greetings;

I am always worried about the battery comsumption and having programs run while the unit is powered down just uses power for no reason. With the iPAQ's I was used to the itask program and have the wife doing the same thing to end active programs before shutting the unit down. It looks like the Dells are better with battery use but I always like to be in control.

I think you guys are confusing me. The Switcher Bar is the same thing as the iTask isn't it, but it may take up less real estate, right?

Greetings;

Yes treycranson the switcher bar program acts much like the Compaq iTAsk program but is not exactly the same. As for the real estate it take up more, as the itask poped up when you hit the button the Switcher bar icons stay on the upper task bar. You can also shut down active programs by going into Start>settings>system and click on the Memory program and then click on running programs. From there you can select the programs you want to shut down and hitting stop or use the stop all.

Thanks for the info on how to activate the switcher bar program.

Now, any idea on how to disable it?

Thanks in advance.

Forget it. I should have read the entire message which only states EXACTLY how to disable.
