Hello:

I am looking for journaling software that would give me the option of syncing information from my palm to pc and vice versa. Thank you in advance.

Cheap solutions:
1) You can create an untimed event each day then add a note to it as your daily journal. You can then view and copy from the note in the Palm Desktop.

2) You can create a note each day, week, etc. using Notepad. If you leave that note open before going to another app, it will be immediately available the next time you press the Notepad button.

JohnKes: Thanks for the suggestions, they are wonderful and frugal ideas, especially no. 2. I am a newbie to PDA, but I love it. Another question? I have a Clie S-360 and I have a trial of DateBk5 and I love it. I mainly use my PDA for personal use to try to become and stay organized. What other software programs would you suggest for PDA users. Thanks again.

DateBk3 is cheaper and uses much less memory.

MobileDb Lite is a free database reader. There is a PC version that you can use to create databases. I hear there are better database programs that are shareware.

I use PocketQuicken every day. It directly syncs with Quicken. I can enter a day's transactions within 60 seconds. My PC doesn't even finish booting in that time.

Mapopolis is a cool mapping program.

Planetarium is the best astronomy program. It helps me identify objects I see at night.

If you want to store password and credit card info, you need a security program like TopSecret (v1.5 is free) or YAPS. SplashID is good. Stuff stored in most Palm software has poor or no security.

CSpotRun is a good, free PalmDoc reader.

WordSmith is a fantastic word processor, and Syncs well with MS Word.

Plus fun games like Bejeweled, HMaki, PilOth

Have fun.

As you are already testing DateBk5, you should try out ther journal function, which is part of the software and automatically copies to your dekstop, when you syncronize.
I use DateBk5 all the time and think it is a marvellous piece of software whith so many possibilities, that you will never find them all.

For passwords and other personal info I highly suggest SecureIt. It is free and has a 440 BlowFish Encryption Algorythm. It's great. As for DateBook replacement, I recomend Agendus. Give it a try. DayNotez is good for a journal entry. I also highly recommend WordSmith by HandMark. It works well, and syncs very well. JohnKes basicly had all that covered, but I wanted to give him and extra umph...lol.

I used Palm Journal for awhile and enjoyed it. Then my step-daughter came to visit and played on our computer quite a bit. It began to worry me that the desktop version didn't have a password. Since I couldn't find an update for PJ, I downloaded DayNotz. The desktop is protected by password and you can password protect what's on your PDA as well by marking the records as private.
