Previously I had a Series 5 mx. I bought a Netbook and introduced the same settings (Internet, modem, email) which I had on my 5mx to connect through infrared with my Nokia 6210. However, the connection is not working. Can somebody help me?

Is the 6210 'waking up' at all when you try to connect, or do you get a 'modem not responding' type error?

If its the latter, I would have a look at the 6210 modem settings that you've entered on the netBook.

Also, which netBook OS are you using?

If the IR port doesn't work at all (won't talk to the 5mx either) then:

- ensure that your auto-switch-off time is set to less that 30 minutes (don't ask..).
- check this question in my FAQ: http://www.isbg00598.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/faqNetbook.htm#IRDA

Thank you for your quick reply.

No, my 6210 is not 'waking up' at all when I try to connect. I get a message saying: problem of connection with the remote box, access refused.

I have entered the same 6210 modem settings as for the 5mx and I use the new netBook OS (158). Is it the cause of the problem?

If the IR port doesn't work at all (won't talk to the 5mx either) then:

I will visit your website.

Thanks.

There is no C:\System\Libs\IRDA.PRT in my system. No IRDA.PRT into the Libs folder. is it normal?

No, my 6210 is not 'waking up' at all when I try to connect. I get a message saying: problem of connection with the remote box, access refused That sounds as if there may be a problem with the Email settings or, if you are getting the message as soon as you try to dial (which is "Access Denied" on UK machines), you may need to perform a soft reset to clear the problem. This may have arisen because a previous connection attempt has failed and the port hasn't been released properly.
