Before becoming a proud owner of an m515, I have a Palm Personal. Unfortunately, I sat on it, and cracked the screen.

It is still usable but want to hear from other owners if they have the same cracked screen problem and fixed it themselves.

Is it worth to spend money fixing it anyway ?

If you just cracked the digitizer, a new one is $27 from Gethightech. (http://********hightech.com) Whether it's worth fixing is up to you. maybe as a backup in case your 515 dies?

Thanks for the suggestion ...

Another alternative I am just aware of is to donate it ... Dr. Mud mentioned he is involved with organizaation which accepts older PDAs, refurbished them, and distribute them to under-privileged folks.

I appreciate PilotUser's referral. I would also like to say there is not only personal satisfaction in doing the repair but a value in having an extra Palm in the drawer waiting to test software and act as a back up.
The program that PilotUser referred to is new and only a Pilot project (hope you ducked that one). For more than a year now I have been placing refurbed Palms in the hands of students that have a learning disability which gives them need of a bit of a memory upgrade. For many the Palm is the answer. For others it has not worked or become a distraction in class. We are working with the teachers trying to target the personality and age best suited to the tool. If you desire to contribute a try and true old Palm just give me an email.
Best regards,

I've got a Palm Professional which won't synch with My PowerBook G-3 anymore, using 2 seperate and distinct docks). I'm in the market for a 515 but, will I be able to transfer the data on either the Professional or the PB G-3 (running Palm Desktop 2.6.3) to the 515 easily??

Would sincerely appreciate any advice/guidance you many proffer...

Sorry to be so late responding.

I don't expect there will be any difficulty transferring the data.

The 515 uses USB and so long as your G# has that as an option it is simply as pie. Hot sync the old to the G# place the new 515 in the cradle and hit hot sync. Then you should be ask what name to sync to, you choose your old name which will now be assigned to the 515. The data loads to the 515. Of course it never hurt to make a copy of the palm/hotsync ID/Backup folder. Just in case!

Thank you, Doc! I appreciate the info... I also found out that - since the PowerBook has Infared - I'll be able to HotSynch using it.. Super!, gonna get a m515 tomorrow!
