Hi

I am still running a series 3, and still happy with it. However my address file has become a directory (filepath \DAT\ADDRESS.III\ )and this has prevented me from accessing all my addresses, etc how do I get the file back to address.iii (a hidden file).

Thanks in advance

Don't know how the file has become a directory or why, even if hidden, it would have the extension .iii when it should have .dbf

Did you perhaps give it a different extension to hide it rather than using the "hidden" attribute?

Do you have a file manager with which you could manipulate the file path to get it back to a file, possibly also restoring its .dbf extension?

Hello Mike

No I don't have a file manager, other than the built in one and this won't accept any changes. The use of *.iii was a simple way of hiding files and has worked perfectly well for years. Unfortunately the unit is starting to show it's age and the SSD on which the file was stored decided that it should be a directory. I don't want to format as this was the backup to the internal Ram file which I had to clear because it wasn't taking any new input.

I have a horrible feeling that I will have to start again with a lot of information lost to the directory for good.

If you want to try sending me the "file", if it can be sent when the system thinks it is a directory, I can try playing with a file manager to see if I can change it back.

Hello Mike

Sorry I don't have a modem for the psion so there isn't any way I can get the "file" to you.

Thanks
