The past two days my iPAQ 3955 has completely drained the main battery overnight. It just started doing this after a few weeks of having it. I do have a CF sleeve on it but had it before. Could it be event notifications leaving the unit on overnight? So... any ideas?

I have a 3950 and I keep it in my SS2 with a CF module in it all the time. My unit drains about 3% overnight... You obviously have some event that is turning on your iPAQ and the unit is staying on from then on. I recall having to change some of the power management settings to have the unit turn off after some duration on non-use. Check for those settings under "Power"...

I turned off notifications and it seems to have done the trick. Now I remember one of the sore spots I had with Windows CE type devices. I switched over to Palm OS devices for a while because they did a much better job managing battery life. I never had trouble with battery life on the Palm OS devices except when my m505's battery failed after a year. It would drain in about 2 hours. Palm replaced at no charge. I remember that the notifications really sap the Windows CE devices I had in the past. Especially over the weekend when the unit stayed in the briefcase. Oh well... guess I'll have to figure out a good way to work around one of the few short comings.
