Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Printers for series 7
hello, am looking for advice. i have a psion series 7 and wish to buy a cheap printer to use with it. I've looked on various websites to see what printer drivers are available and have found a list of printers that work.
unfortunately, me knowing nothing about printers:) am having difficulty with matching the the printer models.
Is the canon BJS200 the same as BJ-200ex? if not can anyone suggest any cheep printer that will work with my psion.
Would be really grateful! thanx

I would strongly suggest you get confirmation from someone who uses a particular model of Canon printer before buying, particularly if you are not also going to use it with a PC.
I suspect many of the latest "cheapie" printers are "Windows" printers which, like many internal Win Modems, are dumb devices which use software instead of hardware to do the donkey work. This means they only work with a Windows operating system.
To work with a Psion, the printer must have its own internal fonts which the Psion uses with the appropriate commands. The older Canon printers were fine, I still have a BJ-30 and I have used a BJC-250 but be careful with the latest ones in case they don't have their own fonts, though I don't know for sure.

Hi,
I use Canon BJC-55 portable (the smallest A4 on market) inkjet printer with netBook. Works fine - colors, special characters etc.. BUT - printing via infrared is SLOW. The same printer connected to PC via USB is much much FASTER. Printer with paralell port connected through psion printer cable would be probably better solution. (BJC-85 portable has the paralell port, but it is bigger than BJC-55).

The Canon '55' and '85' are good but not cheap. I've used an HP Deskjet 840c and you might still pick up an 850c if portability is not that important.

Right, NOT cheap. But the most portable, if mobile printing is needed... if not, any Canon desktop printer should do the same work...
