Palm and Real have just over 24 hours to make or break there promise of real player for palm by the end of the year. Will they do it??? I don't think so...... lamb 12-30-2002, 07:54 AM well the have untill the end of today and the whole of tomorrow ;) if the have done realplayer then there is no reason why they cant get it out in time leedscon 12-30-2002, 08:28 AM i don't think we'll see it maybe they meant the end of the financial year Andy leedscon 12-30-2002, 08:41 AM i'd like to add that it's interesting palm are giving away free mp3 players with the TT up until 31st january. Andy iiicRules 12-30-2002, 11:59 AM What's the end of the finacial year?? and what do you mean Palm are giveing free MP3 players away. Where's that??? leedscon 12-30-2002, 07:47 PM the financial year ends june 30th (well it does in my part of the world) here's a link about the free mp3 player, i didn't get one, i bought mine too early http://palm.com/au/ Andy rcpettengill 12-31-2002, 07:45 AM The player won't be released until Palm releases a fix for the poor sound quality on the headphone jack. After not having it for the Tungsten release there is no point in doing it until they can do it right. dr rx 12-31-2002, 08:12 AM I just bought my Palm Tungsten t last week (well inside the stated promotional period) and wouldn't you just know it, I threw out the box with the UPC code on it just the other day!!!! Well I really didn't want the mp3 player anyway (I already have a RIO), I just want my Palm Tungsten T to live up to it's billed potential. If what you said is true about Palm's poor headphone jack quality and the need for Palm to fix it, than I wonder what form the fix is going to come in and when? Do us poor saps who bought the Tungsten T early on get screwed when a later model comes out with better sound quality?!?!? :( iiicRules 12-31-2002, 01:44 PM rcpettengill- you are not entirely correct. What was actually said was that they would be released at the same time. So if realplayer is released as promised before 2003 then so will the fix. The fix will come in the form of an upgrade to OS 5.1 (free) and will work on the Tungsten- possibly the realplayer may be built into the upgrade.... iiicRuled dr rx 12-31-2002, 04:20 PM Gotta love it! Remember in the old days when a product was released on the market totally ready to perform the way it's package labeling described?! mmmkay 01-02-2003, 06:26 PM If you look at their press release (http://www.realnetworks.com/company/press/releases/2002/palm.html?UK=X) .. You'll see at the very bottom in very small print :P "This press release contains forward-looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties, including statements relating to the availability of the RealOne Mobile Player by the end of the year and whether and when the Helix DNA Client becomes available for the Palm OS 5." Jan 02 and still no Realplayer :) dr rx 01-02-2003, 08:08 PM mmmkay: You mean January 03 I'm sure... I believe that 'small print' is boiler plate language for any press release. It helps to keep that stock market incentive up while giving them an out when things go south.... It is truely a shame that the tungsten t just doesn't seem 100% ready to market. You know there's gotta be an issue when there is a need to update the OS so soon after the product has been introduced.... mmmkay 01-03-2003, 01:51 AM It's still Thursday January 02, 2003 over here :) dr rx 01-03-2003, 10:51 PM Sorry...I wrongfully thought you were talking about the year, not the day....my bad...:) PDA Street
