I have a Psion series 3 and have just formatted my SSD (128 mb Flash) disk.
Can anyone tell me if it is at all possible to recover some of the files I had on it? I have not used or touched it since formatting it.
Thanks (with fingers crossed) :(

Seriously, as far as I know there is no recovery from a reformatted disk :( . On your behalf, I really hope someone can prove me wrong.

Formatting really does wipe it clean :(

Sorry, sorry… it’s just me bragging again. You’re right it should read 128k
Anyway, many thanks for your prompt answers even though it’s bad news. I’ll just have to be a bit more careful next time.
Over and out.:D

I'm sorry too, Edward - it was just a little tease that I couldn't resist.
Also very sorry about the lost data - I hope it won't be too traumatic to recover from. Best of luck.
Happy New Year

I assume there is no backup on PC at any time? Previous versions of the files are kept in archive folders.

That’s a good thought Nick. But no, I haven’t got round to connecting it to a PC yet. I don’t really know what hardware or software is required. I may take steps in that direction next if it doesn’t cost too much.
Many thanks.

The S3 and 3a require the "3Link", affectionately known as the soap-on-a-rope. It has a pod in the middle with a ROM chip containing the Comms software which these earlier devices didn't have on board. This would have to be second hand from somewhere like eBay or Psion Exchange - www.psionex.co.uk
The 3c and 3mx use the currently available PsiWin serial cable which you can get from www.serialleads.co.uk
PsiWin 2.3.3 (for Windows 2000 or XP) or PsiWin 2.3.1 (for Windows 95, 98 or ME) can be downloaded from Psion's website at www.psion.com/mypsion/login.asp
You can use 2.3.3 with 95, 98 and ME but some of the Series 3 functionality (printing via PC?) is missing in the latest version. Be aware that PsiWin downloads are about 25 Mbytes.

I suggest you use DataRecoveryWizard to recover your data.
The software provides very useful functions for data recovery:
DeleteRecovery, FormatRecovery, AdvancedRecovery, RawRecovery.
This program is an efficient disk recovery software providing
you a complete answer to data loss.
First thing I recommend you download the demo version of
DataRecoveryWizard. (http://www.easeus.com/download.htm)
Run the program and select the recovery mode "DeletedRecovery",
or "FormatRecovery", or "AdvancedRecovery".

Hi Folks,
I didn’t go to the website as I know as well as Julie, Mike, Jim and a host of others that a reformatted Flash RAM SSD has no recoverable data on it.
Yaya1982 has confused SSDs with conventional hard disks and other storage media where it can be possible to recover data. Even if there were recoverable data you would need a way of connecting the SSD to a desktop as the application won’t run on a SiBO machine.
