Hello,
I'm in the market for a Palm/cell phone combo, and I've come across the Kyocera 6035 (SmartPhone) that Verizon Wireless is offering. Before I plunk down hard earned cash for one, I'd like to know what others think about it. What's good, and what's not so hot about it. Your comments will help me decide if I'll really buy it, or look at something else.
Thanks.

The 6035 works fine. I have had for a year+ with Zero problem. It's a monochrome screen that lights up very brightly at night in the dark making the screen extremely legible. It has a very low battery consumption. Lots of screen real estate. It synchronizes with the mac/pc. A lot of the wireless carriers are still selling it as a top of the line device.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
Have had one for about 8 months. Very pleased. Suggest you get insurance from Verizon (~$4/mo). Have scratched graffiti area and had to have phone replaced. There is no need to purchase extra Mobile Web programs. You can use existing account and still connect to web. Web connection mostly useless due to web browsers (all I've found do not permit you to react until the entire page loads)--this is not a Kyocera problem. Email works fine.

For an old 8mb OS 3.52 device, it's extremely useful. I've had mine for about 8 mo's, and use it quite a bit in my line of work(medical delivery), being able to dial directly out of your address book is a real plus(that's in addition to the normal speed dial). There are a lot of nifty and useful apps out there for the machine, but you don't want to go for anything really heavy on graphics due to the limitations of the screen; some OS 4 specific apps won't go. Reception with Verizon is decent, the speakerphone isn't a replacement for handsfree, but it comes in handy. Voice dialling is poor, but w/all the other options, you really don't need it.

I love it,
The screen is a little small but it's the perfect combo. I work outside for Verizon and I'm pretty rough on my phone. Its no wimp. Get a leather case and those plastic clear screen savers.

I grew frustrated trying to balance my cell phone on my shoulder while I looked up numbers on my Palm 3X. I was waiting for these two essential electronic devices for modern living and information retrieval to converge.
The 6035 is a compromise in that it's a rather clunky sized phone and a somewhat disappointing PDA screen.
Still, it works! I recommend it VERY highly. It has made my life much, much easier. The combination of these devices allows for some very robust possibilities.
Big plusses include: A kick-ass Lithium battery that seems to last forever; Text messaging to/from cell phones AND internet addresses via Verizon's that means I really don't need wireless internet when I travel - amazing! Integrated Voice-activated phone dialer that allows me to choose directly among my entered Addresses.
My disappointments include: Somewhat buggy software that crashes occasionally; And something that intermittently doesn't allow me to dial phone numbers from the handset (have to use the Palm screen instead). Inability to download sound files and include them within the programmable set of dial tones for incoming numbers.

Before I bought my I330 I used a Sprint Kyocera 6035 for a year and a half. Great phone/pda. It has better intergration of the sprint network than the I330 but it just works on the 2G network and not Vision (3G). In fact I'm still excited about it. For a phone/pda with just 8 megabytes of ram it has it all. Does text messaging (short mail), email, voice command etc. You can use it as a speaker phone and work on the palm programs at the same time. You can go right to you sprint account with it's built in browser. You can't do this with the I330. I used it as wireless modem to access the internet on my desktop computer also. The battery life is really good on this phone also because there's no color screen to use up the battery. I'm selling mine because I have no use for it anymore but it's hard to part with it. It comes with a cradle/charger, car charger, leather case and belt clip, extra battery, all the software and a manual. My email address is gipsonl4c@sprintpcs.com if anyone is interested.
Sincerely,
