I'm about to buy a 5455 and would like to know if anyone knows anything about this web site. The price looks good. Any comments would be great.

If i could afford it, I'd definitly get it mainly cuz of whats intergrated, I have a 3835 right now, and I have to use a CF sleeve to use Bluetooth, and I figure if you can get intergrated Wifi and intergrated Bluetooth, and fingerprint scanner, why bother with a 39xx unless you hope for a lower price.
:D
The other option for a new PDA would be a top end Dell Axim X5 which is more inexpensive, but I prefer ipaq line of PDAs.

Oh btw, if you are elgible, I seen over at hpshopping.com ( Mfr's website ) , for 599 i think, allowing you to not have to pay until January 2004. Unfortunatly I didnt approve for the credit check to do this, But maybe you might be able to.

I have the 3955 and decided to stay with it. After reading many posts on other forms concerning the battery issues with the 5450, and other small issues I decided to stick with what works.
The 5450 is a nice machine, but I cannot use Wi-Fi at home and it just takes to much power. I only need bluetooth and the 3900 series battery is much better according to those who have upgraded from the 3900 to the 5400, and they are comparing battery life with wireless features off.
I have also heard that if you do want to use the CF Expansion Pack Plus, that for some reason the system battery is used firs and the system battery will trickle carge the Expansion Pack battery. It is supposed to work the other way around.
The other draw back is that while you can buy an extened battery, your iPAQ will not fit into sleves.
Like I said the 5400 seris is really neat and will mature, but for now I will stick to my trusty 3955.

Interesting, didnt know about the battery issue, I use an ipaq 3835. I assume they made the 5450 in the sense that it will not as likely be needed with a sleeve. Far as the expansion trickling the wrong direction, only seems to do that option with the "Plus" versions of the sleeve, for example, I have a dual PCMCIA sleeve, if no cards are installed it is used as power expansion to the ipaq, otherwise it only powers the cards in the slots.
Do you have a breif thought about the 1910 , seems like a mini-38xx model.

The posts that I have read concerning the Expansion Pack Plus issues have only been for the 5450. The general consensus is that it is a problem that HP/Compaq will have to fix and not the way it should work.
My 3835 and my new 3955 both use the Expansion Pack battery first and it trickle charges the main system battery. I can't believe that HP/Compaq would intentionally change this on the 5450 as it would defeat one reason the pack is so usefull. It is a 5450 issue not an Expansion Pack issue.
As to the 1910 I looked at it in the store. It looked nice enough. I would consider buying one for someone who would really never need expansion options, such as my wife, and where size would be an issue. (The Axim is nice but she would not want the size.) I beleive that HP/Compaq is trying to have an offering on the lower end to complete their product offering and try to keep their sales up. If they wouldn't have come out with the 1910 they would only have really expensive offerings that would not appeal to a broad market.
Just my .02 worth.

I work at best buy in the home office department, I was approached by a customer who owned the 3670 ( i know it was a 36xx with the older pocketPC OS ), and was looking to get a CF sleeve plus a flash card, cuz he maxed out the memory on his ipaq ( i think the 36xx has only 32M rams and no expansion slots ) , after learning he wanted to keep the size down, and also explaining to him how my 3835 used expansion cards ( I had mine in my pocket with a dual CF sleeve ), I then told him about the ipaq 1910, explained for what he needs it would be a great replacment for both size and storage, since it has a SD slot at the top and he could easily buy a 128 or higher SD card for the price of trying to accessories his current ipaq, so to say if they only had high price offering that they would not do well, you would essentially be correct, cuz I do notice many people walking around with pre-38xx model of the ipaq trying to upgrade without shooting themselves in the foot.

You're so right.
Before the 3900, 5000, and the 1000 series, a dual PC card
sleeve like the one I have makes so much sense. Now I would
rather buy a 5000 or even a 1000 series now.
