Following up on a previous thread re FAX sending from Treo ... mine is a 180 with VoiceStream->T-Mobile GSM service ... yes, Mark/Space's FAX application does all the right things up to the message "no carrier", indicating that VoiceStream has not activated the FAX3 service. After percolating through four layers of customer service people I finally reached someone who knew what I was talking about ... who informed me that it can be turned on immediately, but it will cost an additional $9.95/month. I have little enough need and completely enough alternatives that I decided not to do it, so I can't say for sure that it works end-to-end ... -- Mel

I just got off the phone with VS/TM. First, I had my old VS 500min account upgraded to the now 600min that's advertised on TMs site. I then asked them to add the FAX3 provisioning to my line. After sitting on hold for 15mins, the techie told me that he re-added faxing to my line (was added previously, but wasn't added correctly), but that I would not be able to fax out, because my handset is not GPRS capable (despite what Handspring says ;P ). I'm at work, so I didn't wanna argue with the guy. Got off the phone, and tried Mark/Space's again, and for the first time ever, instead of 'No Carrier', it sent...!

I love how well tech support works ;P

(hope I don't see some wack $10 charge added to my bill next month like stated above ;P )
