Does anyone know of a combination USB hotsync cable which will charge both over USB as well as accept a AC adapter?
Sony sells these two things separately, but it'll set you back $55...

I know exactly what you mean. I went to Best Buy looking for something like that, and ended up getting Belkin brand USB sync charger -- not quite what you had in mind, however, because it is designed for a car's cigarette outlet.
BUT, I would check out http://www.belkin.com to see if they have what you're looking for.
P.S. - the combo sync / auto charger was $20 at B.B.

For those who are interested, what I finally decided on was to pick up the Clie USB hotsync cable.
This cable includes a connector which has two plugs -- one for the USB cable and another for the AC adapter.
SO, for traveling, I use the connector and the AC adapter which came with the Clie and cradle.

You may want to look at www.proporta.com. They have one for the car and one for AC - sockets.
Would like to know: if anyone does have the AC version (advertised for american and (with adaptor for) english sockets, does it fit european sockets? (Assuming it is 110/220 volts)
