I'm new to the handheld world, and have been researching both the m105 and the zire. I am not quite sure which one i want. I only need it for basic uses ( and the games). I like the backlighting and memory features of the m105, but it seems that the zire would be easier to learn. any recomendations for me?????

Definatly go with the m105 instead of the zire. here is a side by side comparision:
Zire: m105
Palm Os Y Y
Back light N Y
USB Sync Y N
external keyboard N Y
Memory 2mb 8mb
There is no diference in the zire being easier to learn than the m105. they bothe have Graffiti, touchscreen, and easy to use Palm OS.
and If you want to play games, the Zire does not cut it. The zire has 4 buttons, while the m105 has 6.

Based on what I saw yesterday, I'd say don't get either but rather get the M500.
I saw the M500 in Best Buy for $99 (USD) yesterday. When you consider that they give you 4 times the memory of the Zire, give you a backlight, a USB cradle, expansion card and remain one of the smallest most pocketable PDA' around, this would be my choice for dollars.
Good luck.

If you can get it at that price, do it.

Even better than either of those is the treo 180(g). even if you don't use the Cell phone, it still has 16mb of memory.
And right now, www.Handspring.com has it on sale for $99.

Actually, it's $249 and you can only get the $150 rebate if you activate a NEW service plan. (Those of us who have EXISTING plans get no break at all.) For that much, I could get a Clie SJ20 and a big Memory Stick and still have change left for a nice dinner and a couple of add-on programs for the Clie.

I agree. Sorry, I did not know you had to activate it.

The m105 has a USB sync too. It's a cradle, which is even better. The Zire only has a cable.

You have found a good deal. Also, you said that the m500 has an expansion card. It is actually a Secure Digital expansion slot.
