I just checked the Aero Player website & Beta version 6 is now available - it includes background playback.

It is now available on Palm Gear - cost to purchase is $12.

http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?prodID=46149

I haven't tried it yet - will be interested to hear what others think of it.

Apparently if you download from Palm's web site (they have their own software collection too..) they also charge

BUT! Note on the Aerodrome web site:

"Don't forget to download AeroPlayer, the free multi-format audio player for your Palm Tungsten T handheld!"

I can't remember the details but the MP3 plug in (since their developers charge a royalty) is only free if the software utilizing their codecs are free.. some sort of loop hole I guess :p

So I don't think that they would be able to charge us for it, unless there were enough people to pay for the royalties.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I think :p

Hi

Aeroplayer B6 can't read my 128MB TwinMos SD card :-(

Works fine if I reinstall the B5, but no background plays...

Am I alone?

It works great on mine. I downloaded Beta version 6 & also the new version of the mp3 plug in.

When I installed everything to my card (Lexar 256mb) it didn't work at all.

Then I installed the app & the plugin on the handheld & everyting worked great. I have about 15 mp3 files on my card & they all play fine.

I've played games with it running in the background, read a book on Palm Reader, etc. with no problem. The only glitch I found was that my Splash Photo slide show didn't start automatically. I could manually scroll through the pictures, and to get the show to start I had to physically select it from the slide show button. Not a big deal.

I didn't pay for it yet - I just downloaded it as a trial from Palm Gear. There is an Aero Player group on Yahoo & on that board someone posted that when you check out, Palm Gear tries to charge you $15 instead of $12. He said he got it on Handango for $12.

I am holding off on payment until I see what develops. There wasn't any information I could find about the length of the trial period, whether upgrades were included in the $12, etc. But maybe I just missed that in my rush to try background playback!:)

Hi

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not paying $12 for crappy sound and no SD Card support.

Not sure what you mean.

It's quite good, pending a fix from Palm.

SD card works fine, as it always has. Using a Lexar 64MB (Panasonic S064B).

Are you playing MP3s or Ogg Vorbis files? If you are playing MP3 (this is very important) make sure you have the latest MP3 plug-in (version 2.0). That might be why you are saying it doesn't work. Ogg Vorbis files should be fine however. If you can't play an Ogg file then you may have a problem :)

In the past, leaving the AeroPlayer application on the SD card was fine and putting plugins and skins in RAM. Now it seems to be a little buggy now and then (leaving copies of AeroPlayer in RAM). It probably has something to do with the new background playing feature and that the launcher (ZLauncher) copies app from SD to RAM before executing.

I just fixed that by placing everything in RAM except the music (which goes in /Audio folder on the SD card)

As for the $12. I think that's some bogus screw up. At least I hope so. AeroPlayer is freeware.

Hi

Aeroplayer B1 ,B2, B3, B4, B5 works fine (sound is not HI-FI though), but not with B6 can't find any mp3, ogg or wav files to play.

Not sure what you mean.

What I mean is that $12 is a bit much for an mp3 player (B6) that currently can't find & play mp3's.

Happy newyear :-)

You have to download the mp3 plugin in order to find & play your mp3's on your card.

Wave files are temporarily unavailable.

They've removed the plugin from the site for now too.

I downloaded both (free) last night and thanks to my son, started listening to the few of his MP3's that I can enjoy. Directions for downling the music onto the TT are pretty explicit. Others have complained about the quality of sound from the headphone jack, but I'm deaf in one ear and use a stereo to mono adaptor plug, so I don't think I'm a good judge of sound quality...but sounds OK, not great, to me

I have a Lexar 256mb SD.
I have mp3s in a directory on my SD called /Audio/
I downloaded AeroPlayer Beta 6
I downloaded the mp3 plugin currently posted.

And folks, I can play mp3s that are located on my card, I can listen to them in background play.

I am looking at some of these posts and it really appears that some are not doing everything right. You cannot use the older mp3 plugins. And you must have have all your mp3s in a folder called Audio...no subdirectory support yet. The folder has to be one (1) level above the root directory.

The sound is a Palm issue, not the player(s). MP3s do sound better than the ogg on the Tungsten T. And the sound is better through headphones than the device speaker.

It works. Quirky, but it does work.

Well, I'll get off my soapbox now...

Thanks to all of you

It works now, bad mp3 codec was the problem,

Background playing sucks up a shitload of cpu power though ;-)

HELP!

I am using Aeroplayer beta 6 and I can't get it to recognize more than 6 songs. I have 8 songs on my SD card. Two of the songs are greater than 5mb. These will not display on the player. Is there a file size restriction?

Kasia

I have 15 songs on my card - at first it recognized only 13 - then I tapped on the playlist button on the left side & the last two showed up.

I have 14 songs on another card & it recognized all of them right away, so it should definitely be able to recognize all of yours.

Hi

I don't think there is file size restriction, because, most of my mp3's are 320kbps and the size is usually about 10 MB.

I really like the aeroplayer. Got the latest today to play in the background. no problems. I have Viking 128mb cards and 64 mb sandisk cards. All work.

HERE has been my problem all along. The cards have more music on them than will show in the selection area. The only way I know of to find tracks 8-15 or 16 or whatever, is to do a continue shuffle until "by chance" the one I want to hear shows up. Is there a way to scroll thru songs or do just keep shuffling, or just jave to listen from beginning to end. That is alot when I have 20 songs on a card

Thanks for any help

So anyone interested in a Forum in Schertz, Texas? Just a joke, yeah, I live there, but anyone who lives here who may have a tt, sure is not here in the day and there probably are not many.

Some have moved away from the cube style mouse of 30 years ago, so we are making progress....................JK:D

In the bottom left hand corner, I have "MODE" and "SHUFFLE", but no "playlist". On the right and lower corder I have a number, don't know if it is time or what, ie, 00:22:38+

Use one of the Arc skins (see Aeroplayer website); then there are two extra buttons (track forward, track backward) on the screen.

pdcparamedic

Than number in the bottom right corner must be total play time for because when I shuffle and get up to somg 29, the number goes to 02:22:18, maybe 2 hours, 22 minutes and 18 seconds?

Still want to scroll down if I could

You're still not using the Arc skin ........?

Kasia

I have the Arc skin & there is a playlist button on the left side. I can scroll down the list by pressing on the right arrow on the D navigation button - the left arrow lets me scroll up the list.

:D Thanks, that does the job. NOW, all we have to do is get rid of the flash screen. I MAY be worth paying for, but the jury is out. Depends on what Palm does for us "high-dollar" tt owners, who probably upgraded from a 515, another fairly pricey palm. It would not be much to request this player be free

The splash screen is to remind you its a beta :p

You can easily close it by pressing the D-pad select button.

Just one key press and its gone :)

Use a file manager app

Filez is freeware and excellent quality imo :)

I have to agree, Filez makes it easier to manage your data on the SD card.
