Hi All
Have started installing various software downloaded from the net and have tried to install Macro5 , however whan I try to Launch it I get the following error response:
Error in Macro5\init,D:\system\opx\systinfo.opx
Incompatible OPX version
Anyone any idea what the problem is here. Set up: Psion 5mx, installed to D drive 128mb simple technology cf card
Thanks

Check the date and size of the Systinfo.opx file you have. The ones I have are:
Revo - 10748 bytes dated 19/4/2002
5mx - 10044 bytes dated 14/8/1999
...and both of these Psions have Macro5 running. If you want a copy of the 2002 file, send me an email by going to my website and clicking on the 'Email' button.

Have replied to Mike directly but thought I'd also put the message here so anyone else having same/similar probs can follow the thread and also in case anyone else can also add anything else to the discussion:
>>Hiya Mike
Well here's an odd one. Just thought I'd delete the
file in question and then reinstall from the same zip
file as macro5 files were in (maybe not a good idea
as whatecer one I had might have been more up to date
but didnt think of that at the time oops).
However when I tried to install systinfo.sis from the
macro5 zip it said the installed one was more up to
date and did I really want to replace with older
version !!
Ehm but I've just deleted it ?
I navigated via explorer on my PC and went to system
folders on both D and C drives and found no
systinfo.opx file - ehm whats going on here any ideas
?
Might not be a bad idea if u dont mind sending the one
that works for you. However if I really have got a
more up to date version (and If i have why can't I
find it ?) might an older version not cause probs with
other progs ?
On this theme does the 5mx have an equivalent to the
search/find options in windows 98se - so u can find a
file if u know the name and let the system trawl
through all discs to find ?
Many thanks for all your help going to bed now :-)

Thanks all and catch ya tomorrow

To the best of my knowledge (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), the Installer app looks for .sis "stubs" in the c:/system/install/ folder to get data on what has been there and what hasn't. In theory, you can delete a program by deleting its app folder but if you don't run the installer to delete it or manually remove the .sis "stub", then the app, etc. will continue to show in the installer log.
Hope this helps (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
