I'm thinking of buying a refurbished portable modem from Palmking. I have 5 hours of roaming time a month from my high-speed internet carrier. Will I be able to use this combination of hardware and service provider to access my e-mail using a standard phone-line when away from home or will I need other hardware, software or service packages?

PS - thanks for the help with my last post on portable keyboards - I'm up and running now that I've installed a hackmaster and laptophack utility which is allowing me to navigate much more freely without a stylus.

Is the modem a Palm Modem?
I use the Palm wire Modem on my 515 and get excellent use of it for email when I travel. You can surf with a browser and you will need a mail app. Eudora offers both for the Palm and they are free.
