Hello,
I'm planning to buy Ericsson from ebay.com. The details say I have to take gsm service from AT&T,Cingular or Voice Stream. Does that mean the phone is locked to operate only with these three providers? I will be using the phone backhome in India. So please let me know whether this will work or not. In india I use Tata service which operates on 900 GSM. Also, as far is i know the phones, if locked, are locked to operate only under one service provider. Is it also possible to lock the phones to operate under three providers?

The "SonyEricsson" website shows this as a dual band 900/1900 MHz phone so it should work with US GSM networks on 1900 MHz and other networks which use 900 MHz, but not on 1800MHz networks. I would suggest you make sure that the phone is not locked to any particular network before you buy it, unless you have access to a phone dealer locally who can unlock it for you.

You also need to be certain that your network uses the 900 MHz band and not 1800 MHz.
