Greetings;

On my iPAQ 3635 to find what rom image I have I goto: Start>Settings>, pick the system tab and then click on asset viewer. Click on the plus sign at version and it will show what rom you are using at: ROM Revision: 2.14.03 eng (that's what mine shows) You then can decide if you have the correct rom to run Bluetooth.

If you don't you can follow the link, to Compaq, and upgrade your rom image to 1.65. You must perform a backup before upgrading your Rom in case something happens.

If more help is needed please post again or email/pm me.

Thanks Mate, Thing is I have not got it as yet only ordered it yesterday from the US so I don’t know what it running or even what OS it’s got. I was looking at the flash colour bluetooth models but far to expencive for what I want to use it for so I’ll have to wait till it turns up, ya never know it might be ok, will there be any advantage to upgrade it to PC 2002 if it not running that already?

Greetings;

I myself like PPC2002 better than 2000, but there are some drawbacks with upgrading, especially with a 3150. Some of the programs that were located on the rom in PPC2000 cannot fit after upgrading to PPC2002, so they go onto the ram. With a 3635 (with 32mb ram) and using a 128mb CF card I had no problem. You on the other hand have only 16mb rom and 16mb Ram so memory allocation is a big concern for you unless you plan on using an expansion sleeve and purchase a memory card.
Here is a link for a Compaq Faq site that has more upgrade info

Compaq (http://www.compaq.com/products/handhelds/pocketpc/2002faq.html)

Hope this helps, let me know

Greetings;

A CF card of that size or more might help, one of the programs that is not installed on the rom is Windows media player which is about 3-4 mb and I'm not sure what other programs are not installed, Microsofts site doesn't tell much. It does have info on upgrading the 3100 series to ppc2002. I would say that you most likely don't need a CF card to upgrade but your internal memory will be taxed, so a memory card for other programs would be good.

Scott, I need your help again, ive down loaded the new rom from the ipaq site, problem it that after i unpack it & then try to load it i get an error message saying
"This application has failed to start because RAPI.dll was not found. Re-intalling the application may fix this problem"
But it dont ive re-installed it a few times & downloaded it again & again but still get the same error message. Do i have to run it with the Ipaq in the cradle? I know the ipaq has to be in the cradle to upload the new rom but the program should run without it ?
THANKS
