When I first got a 7 I used lineone.net as my ISP and got good free service for the cost of a local call. They were taken over by Tiscali and recently we were given a new 'locall' telephone number. Now on the IOW this works fine and at most times I can get logged on in less than a minute. At Salisbury however I can spend half an hour trying and not manage it especially at weekends or in school holidays. Now obviously as I travel back and forth and around the country I don't want to sign up for one of those deals which restricts me to one line. I haven't got an ir mobile phone. Anyone any ideas on how I can get cheap AND reliable access.

Hi Frank

I changed my ISP a few weeks ago to PlusNet and so far I'm very pleased indeed. Just got back from a trip to Spain, where I was able to send and receive e-mail and surf the web with my netBook, no problem at all. NOT the case with my previous ISP who shall remain nameless.

They have quite a selection of different packages, and if you choose one of their unmetered ones they allow you to nominate up to 5 UK landlines that you can use it from. Perhaps that might be of help to you?

Either FreeUK or Freeserve will give you reliable access with a Psion and you can sign up to both online. You can also use both on a PC without having to install any software from a CD!!

Apart from CompuServe, I have never installed any ISP's software in a PC because there is absolutely no need to do so.

I couldn't agree more! Saves you from all that annoying branding, too.

I have previously used Freeserve, and it was reliable for the Psion in the UK, but I was unable to send out e-mail from abroad. Also, their unmetered package only allows use from one landline.

Btw Mike, all that effort recently figuring out the settings for GPRS with my Ericsson R520m paid dividends - worked like a charm out in Spain for me!

Changed to plus net. Brilliant, for £8.99 per month I get 10 hrs a week and up to five lines which suits me (low usage but I move around)

Thanks
