Hi! Any advice welcome before I go bald! haha!

I have a Tungsten T and T68i! I have managed to pair the two and have used the Tungsten dialer to dial another phone throught my T68i.

In the Tungsten's, preferences, bluetooth, trusted devices menu I have the T68i showing. There was a 'gold key' when I first paired it but that disappeared! I can also see Tungsten T as a paired device in the T68i connect> bluetooth>paired devices menu.

The problem is I cannot seem to keep the pairing!! I have checked this ( thanks to Matteus )

http://www.palm.com/europe/mobile/pairing2.html

but still can't manage to maintain the connection.

I do not switch my T68i off at night, but if I did, or switched the Tungsten off, do I need to set up pairing again?

Any advice much welcomed!!

i'm using a Nokia 8910 and i'm also having some trouble with the bluetooth pairing. although it doesnt sound as bad as yours i think...

i get to use my internet apps, dialer, etc without problems for a couple of days...then for some reason, the connection doesnt initialize properly. my 8910 is acting as if it was a 'new' pairing.

what i have to do is delete my pairing definition in my phone. i go to prefs, comms, phone...and do a test so that (1) i dont have to an 'add trusted devices' on my tungsten (2) and just create the 'new' pair on my phone.

i thought my problem was because i just use the generice GSM driver...but now that your having problems with T68i that has a specific bluetooth driver (i'm assuming you are using it) am starting to think maybe the problem is with our phones software.

let me know if you find out anything else...hope this helps.

T68i bluetooth settings set to "on" as opposed to "automatic"?

You did use the phonelink palm app to do the pairing right?

Slueth255,

In Palm Preferences under Phone what connection do you have set up? Are you using "Bluetooth" or "BT to Sony-E T68i"? I'm using "Bluetooth" because if I select "BT to Sony-E T68i" which would make more since, I get an error. When I run the connection test with "Bluetooth" selected it works, I just get a warning that I should use the driver for my phone.

Have you taken a look at the video available on the Palm web site about setting up a BT connection between a TT and a T68i?

I followed it and it worked first time and has continued to do so ever since.

Sleuth,

Disregard my previous question. I took Alex's advise went through the set up using Palm Phone Link and it worked great.

Sorry I am late getting back...

[ T68i bluetooth settings set to "on" as opposed to "automatic"? ]

Yes, 'ON' and not 'automatic'

[ You did use the phonelink palm app to do the pairing right? ]

Yes, but not success. When there was no success I then set it up through preferences> communications>...

PalmTT--> Sleuth255

I used the option in preferences>communications "BT to Sony-E T68i" because I do not have one that says just 'Bluetooth'

...I've had issues keeping a wonderful pairing between my Palm T|T and SE t68is.

I'm pleased to know that I may not be the only one, but additionally frustrated that I'm not the only one. We just shouldn't be having these problems, not when there are other fires to put out and battles to fight.

So, upon reading some of our recent posts, I followed your advice, Alex L regarding the set-up video. I'd seen and installed according to the video previously and got a sometimey connection based on celestial movements and/or voodoo bone shakings. So I deleted the pairings, and re-paired as per the video. I realized that in Prefs-Communication-Bluetooth I'd had "Allow Wakeup" set to "Yes". This may or may not have anything to do with anything, but on the video they had it set to "No."

I've connected to VersaMail and WebPro since re-pairing and I hope that will be the last time I ever have to do so. Involuntarily, at least.

Query: On you guyses t68's, under Connect-Bluetooth-Linked Devices-"Your Palm Name", is the icon a little sundial-looking circle with a line "marking the time" extending from the center of the circle and pointing towards 2:00?
It may sound obvious, but there was a time in all my pairings and re-pairings that I got another little icon: a sunburst kinda circle. I'm wondering whether any icon is more preferred than not, but I'm willing to not think of icons as long as this pairing stays happy.

Grateful, for now.

i've had no problems.

u use the bt to t68i connection.

in pairing, i did it all from phone side... once for phone initiates and once for phone accepts. pairing has been stable since Dec 25th. bluetooth always on.

i also have a pairing with my pc usb card and the phone. and pc usb card and tt. all stable too.

Hello all.

Here is my experience on the subject:

In the TT, go to prefs, bluetooth and select your paired device. Click on details and delete it.

On the T68i, go into the bluetooth menu where you have the paired devices and delete the TT.

Basically you are starting fresh.

Now, on the T68i, make sure you are discoverable.

Take the TT in the Prefs and bluetooth and click on pair devices.

It will search for other bluetooth devices. At one point, it will say: T68i ( or what ever name you gave to your T68i ). At this point click pair. It will ask for a pass code. Put any 4 digits ( ie: 1234).

If you look at your T68i, It is going to have a menu open on the screen with ( I believe ) 3 options. Choose: PAIR DEVICE

At this point, it will ask you the pass code. PUT THE SAME 4 DIGITS AS YOU PUT ON THE TT !!!! choose OK and you should now see your TT in the Paired devices in the T68i with a GOLD KEY!!!!

In the TT, you will see under paired devices a GOLD KEY next to the paired T68i.

Now you are paired !!!

One of the questions above was about a little red icon with a clock like symbol in it. That is because when it came time to pair from the TT to the T68i, you choose ACCEPT and not ADD TO PAIRED or PAIR DEVICE ( I belive it is option N°2 when you get the window on the T68i in the process of pairing).

I have also had one experience where my Bluetooth on my TT was no longer recognised with my PC. To solve this, I had to hard reset and BEFORE HOTSYNCING...... Change the option to Desktop overwrites hendheld.

Good luck !!

Hi everyone!

I got my bluetooth connection but as yet, I have not been able to download e-mail, send sms and browse the net!

Mmmm patience!!! I did figure, maybe , that my main e-mail account is not accessible through GPRS.

I better watch the video again!
